Hello, I am Amelia Obermayer and growing up in Germany, being eco-friendly is a big deal. Especially, the city of Munich taught me a thing or two about sustainability. At home, we have a whole operating system with separate bins for Paper, Plastic, Glass, and Food waste, making recycling a breeze. And let's not forget about Germany's "pfand" system—it's like getting a little bonus for returning your glass bottles to the supermarket.

My love for the environment got a serious boost from binge-watching David Attenborough's documentaries, especially the epic Planet Earth series. His words really inspired me in late 2018 when he talked about Climate Change and how we can all step up to the plate, no matter our age. So, I decided to take myself and go vegetarian in January of 2019, and it's been a game-changer for me and my family, they're eating less meat now too.

Apart from changing up my diet, I'm all about those little eco-friendly habits. Here are a few things you might wanna try out:

  1. Don't leave home without reusable bags for shopping.

  2. Say no to plastic bags for small stuff you can carry.

  3. Save water by turning off the tap while brushing.

  4. Keep showers short and sweet to conserve water.

  5. Only wash the car when it's looking seriously grubby.

  6. Ditch the plastic utensils and containers.

  7. Whenever you can, recycle those plastic cups and plates.

  8. Look out for energy-efficient electricals when shopping.

  9. Remember to flick off the lights when you leave a room.

  10. Try to give stuff like plastic bottles a second life before tossing them.

I am all about getting crafty with reusing stuff too—think plastic containers for packed lunches and swapping out plastic wrap for beeswax wraps. And when it comes to chores like washing dishes, I whip up my own natural dishwasher pods instead of grabbing the chemical stuff. Aswell as recycling homework models and boards on other projects. I have made natural dishwasher pods to replace the chemical ones.

I try to be as eco-friendly as I can. REUSE non-renewable items, RECYCLE household single-use items, REDUCE the number of plastic bags, bottles and other objects and REFUSE plastics bags, straws and containers.

Together we can make a change big and small, start today!

As Albert Einstein once put it, "The world will not be destroyed by those who do evil, but by those who watch them without doing anything." Let's be the change we wanna see, starting right now!
